We are proud to present a series of short video lessons created by ALF projects academic partners as part of our commitment to the dissemination and sustainability of knowledge. These lessons represent a key deliverable under the ALF Horizon Europe project and reflect the unique institutional expertise of each partner institution.

Designed as concise and accessible expositions, each video lesson addresses a central concept within the core themes of the project:

  • The Logic of Law (University of Lisbon as part of Task 3.8.),
  • The Language of Law (University of Genoa, as part of Task 4.8.),
  • Law and Practical Rationality (University of Surrey, as part of Task 5.8.) and
  • Practical application of Legal Fundamentals and derivate questions and approaches (University of Belgrade, as part of the Task 6.8.)

The videos offer students and the broader academic community a compact, insightful introduction to key theoretical ideas in under 10 minutes.

Beyond serving as a valuable educational tool, these lessons form part of the ALF project’s broader mission of fostering long-term knowledge transfer and enhancing interdisciplinary dialogue across law and philosophy. The objective of these ALF presentations is to capture and transmit foundational concepts in a clear and engaging manner to students, laweyrs and broader public.

University of Lisbon – Public Law Research Centre “The Logic of Law”

Several theoretical and practical sessions in which propositional and predicate deductive logic will be studied for making and assessing legal reasoning, analogical reasoning, and inference to the best explanation, as well as for understanding and representing legal norms and Hohfeldian legal positions. In addition, defeasible legal reasoning in law will also be addressed, which is fundamental for the understanding of legal balancing. The videos are developed within the Task 3.8. as part of the Workpackage 3 of the ALF project.
